The Jedi Code explained above is based off of the Jedi Code presented in the fiction. The wording has been changed to help with the understanding and to better convey the message of the code.
Emotions are human and are to be experienced, as they are a part of living life. We as Jedi understand that acting from emotion can be dangerous and lead to very negative results in life. We experience and enjoy happiness, joy, laughter, and all of those positive emotions just as we experience anger, fear, and many other negative emotions. Emotions are something Jedi are to nurture. However, when we act it is from a peaceful state of mind. When your mind is in an emotional state it tends to act impulsively. As Jedi we need quiet our minds so we act in peace. A mind that is quiet and peaceful can react in a way that lets you use your knowledge, experience, and wisdom to act accordingly. A mind that is emotional will act impulsively which for a time you will not have any negative outcomes but in time, when acting impulsively you will begin to see the results reflecting the way you act. Anger will not stop hatred. Happiness will not hide hate. Acting on emotion will not get you far in life. The ability to look at a situation and act from a quiet mind will result in an increased positive influence in your life and those of others.
As Jedi we understand that everyone has ignorance. The vast amount of knowledge that exists is beyond any one person to learn it all. As Jedi when we encounter something we do not know we work to understand and learn about it. We use our ignorance to help foster knowledge. Jedi also realize that we are not able to learn everything so when there is something we are to learn we put everything we can into it so that we can gain as much understanding about it as possible. It is better to have a great understanding of eight things then to have very little understanding of eighteen things. As a Jedi, when you come across your own ignorance take hold of it and use it to foster knowledge and understanding. Each individual has their areas of strengths and weaknesses. Find those individuals and learn from them and also know whom you can go to when you are confronted with a situation you don’t know anything about. As mentioned earlier, it is beyond us as humans to learn all the world offers us so surround yourself with individuals that can help you in other areas in life.
Passions are what can drive us in life and can also make life enjoyable. For some their passion is work, playing a sport, reading, hiking, and many other things, as passions are very personal. However, passions can turn into things that can rule your life. How many people can you think of that work is what the live, breathe, and do 24/7. An example within the Jedi Community is for some their passion for being a Jedi and communicating with other Jedi causes them to be on their computer to the point where other aspects of their life suffer. Immerse yourself in serenity to enjoy your passions for then you will never be ruled by those passions. To know if your passions are ruling you ask yourself, are the things you are passionate about adding to your life or taking away. If it is subtracting from your life then you have your answer. Passions should add to your life not take away.
Life or events in life can be seen as very chaotic which can overwhelm people very easily. As a Jedi you need to break things down and see them for what they are and that many times that chaos is very harmonious. Harmony is how things work together. Once you understand what is going on many times you will finally see how it all works together to see it is not really chaos. If you don’t look at things in pieces you will not see how it all works together. Just like in music, you can hear all these notes together and sometimes it might not sound good but someone comes along that has some understanding of it and can hear beautiful music. That is because they understand the pieces that make up that music so instead of hearing chaos they hear all the harmony.
Jedi know that all life is the Force and when we pass on we go back to the Force. The Force allows us to live so we need to take advantage of that opportunity and live life to the fullest. We need to take hold of every moment so when it is our time to go back to the Force we know that we lived and lived it to the fullest potential. Life and death is part of the great cycle. The Force encompasses all, which includes life and death. This can be one of the easiest lines to understand but to make it a part of your life involves using and understanding all the other lines.
